Coroner IDs inmate who died at Henderson jail

A Henderson Detention Center inmate who died earlier this month after what officials described as a medical episode has been identified as 48-year-old Howard Roy Gentry, the Clark County Coroner’s Office said.

Gentry, who was described as obese, died in the booking area of the jail on Nov. 5, city spokeswoman Kathleen Richards said.

Paramedics tried to revive him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, she said.

The cause and manner of Gentry’s death, as well as his place of residence, have not yet been released by the Coroner’s Office.
