Top Nevada court says Uber case should take place in Washoe County

A divided Nevada Supreme Court panel ruled today that the court battle between ride-company Uber and state taxi regulators should take place in Washoe County District Court.

The three-member panel ruled 2-1 to deny a petition from Uber's lawyers to stop the case from moving forward in Washoe County. The company's lawyers maintained that the case should proceed in front of a Clark County judge.

The Nevada Transportation Authority last month sought restraining orders against Uber in three courts — Clark County, Washoe County and Carson City. But the trial can only proceed in one venue based on where the case was filed first.

The case is set to continue in Washoe County District Court at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
