CARSON CITY — Nevada taxable sales rose about 4 percent in September compared to the same month a year ago, the 49th consecutive month of increases.
The Nevada Taxation Department reported Monday sales reached $4.2 billion compared to about $4 billion in September 2013.
Big gains statewide were reported in the sale of durable goods by wholesalers, up 19.7 percent, and car sales, up 12 percent. There was a 12.1 percent decline in sales at bars and restaurants.
Eleven of Nevada’s 17 counties saw an increase in taxable sales. Clark County sales were up 6 percent.
The largest declines were in Eureka County, down 39.1 percent, and Humboldt County, off 38.2 percent.
The state collected $82.3 million as its share of the sales tax, a 6.2 percent increase.
