Dog shot after reportedly attacking sheriff’s employee

A dog was shot this afternoon after reportedly attacking an employee of the Clark County sheriff’s civil bureau in a residential neighborhood, police said.

Metro Police received a report about 1:20 p.m. of the shooting in the 4700 block of Vía San Andros, near South Decatur Boulevard and West Flamingo Road, Officer Laura Meltzer said.

The dog reportedly attacked the employee and shots were fired, striking the animal, Meltzer said.

The dog was taken to a local animal hospital, she said.

No update was available on the condition of the employee or the dog, Meltzer said.
