Authorities have ruled that a woman found dead earlier this week after a domestic violence incident at her Las Vegas home died of multiple stab wounds.

Clark County coroner's officials have ruled 40-year-old Jodi Joyce's death a homicide. Her ex-husband, 52-year-old James Joyce, faces a murder charge in the case but was not immediately booked into jail because he was being treated for apparent self-inflicted stab wounds.

Police say they responded Monday morning to reports of a fight in the house on Berkley Hall Street, near Buffalo and Grand Teton drives.

Officers who arrived say a man threatened officers from a locked room and said he would shoot anyone who entered.

Members of a SWAT team eventually entered to find James Joyce unconscious and Jodi Joyce dead.
