The first-place team in the Southeast League got an unexpected surprise tonight by the team in last.

Green Valley High trailed twice in the first quarter against host Eldorado, but prevailed 47-38 behind a pair of touchdowns from Austin Warhop and Albert Lake.

“Anytime you step across the line you better be ready to play football,” Green Valley coach Brian Castro said. “I’m not sure our guys were 100 percent ready to play when we got there. ... We are happy to get a win. We will take it.”

Green Valley, who received three touchdown passes from Christian Lopez, improves to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in the Southeast League. Eldorado finishes 0-4 in league games.

Isaiah Macklin and Brayon Williams had touchdown receptions for Green Valley. Lopez also rushed for a touchdown.

Joshua Brown had two touchdowns for Eldorado, who finishes the season next week with a nonleague game against Valley.

Green Valley hosts Foothill in the regular season finale. A Foothill win would force a three-way tie in the league among Green Valley, Foothill and Coronado.
