Charges yet to come in Henderson officer DUI case

Prosecutors got more time to file criminal charges against a Henderson police officer jailed after authorities say he was stopped driving the wrong way on a Las Vegas freeway.

Prosecutor Brian Rutledge says Justice of the Peace Suzan Baucum on Monday gave him until Thursday to obtain results of blood tests on samples drawn following Officer Joseph Lawrance's arrest early Thursday.

The Nevada Highway Patrol alleges the 31-year-old Lawrance was driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

He's also accused of reckless driving, having an open alcohol container and prescription medication in his vehicle, having a gun while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and making false statements to a public officer.

Defense attorney Joshua Tomsheck says Lawrance plans to plead not guilty and fight charges.
