A 3-year-old girl killed in a car wreck police allege was caused by a DUI driver Saturday afternoon has been identified by the Clark County Coroner’s Office as Elena Rivera of Las Vegas.

Rivera died of blunt force trauma in the crash at the intersection of Carey Avenue and Sandy Lane, the Coroner’s Office reported.

Rivera was in the back seat of a Toyota Corolla when a Dodge Ram pickup truck crashed into the car from behind, according to a Metro Police report.

The driver of the pickup, 70-year-old Charles H. Washington, was arrested Saturday on counts of driving under the influence causing death and DUI causing substantial bodily harm after he failed field sobriety tests, the report said.

Rivera was pronounced dead at University Medical Center. Others in the car were also transported to the hospital, the report said.

A passenger in the pickup fled the scene on foot, according to the report. Police did not say whether the passenger has been found.
