Las Vegas man dies in motorcycle crash on Desert Inn Road

Updated Monday, Oct. 27, 2014 | 11:48 p.m.

A motorcyclist traveling eastbound on Desert Inn Road collided with an SUV on Monday and was pronounced dead on scene.

Metro Police responded about 5 p.m. to the crash on Desert Inn near Pecos Road. Evidence and witnesses indicate that an Isuzu Trooper, driven by a 69-year-old Las Vegas man, was heading westbound on Desert Inn, made a left turn onto Berwyck Street, and collided with a speeding Honda motorcycle, police said in a statement.

The collision caused the motorcycle to slide several hundred feet before coming to a stop. The rider, a 44-year-old Las Vegas man, was pronounced dead on scene, Lt. Dave Valenta said.

Desert Inn Road was closed in both directions from Pecos Road to Sandhill Road while police investigated.

This was the 63rd traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction for 2014.
