Updated Monday, Oct. 27, 2014 | 1:40 p.m.

A teenager reported missing Sunday on Mount Charleston was located this morning, Metro Police said.

The boy was located about 11:45 a.m., police said. He was checked by medical personnel and released to his parents.

The boy said he got lost and eventually hiked to State Route 156, 1.5 miles from the Saw Mills Trail Head, where he was located. Once he had cell phone service, he called his father, who was with police, officials said.

The boy, who had food, water and a sleeping bag, was in good condition, police said.

Police received reports about 8:50 p.m. Sunday that the teen was missing, Officer Larry Hadfield said. Crews began searching Sunday night but could not find the boy and temporarily suspended the search about 1:30 a.m., he said.

Police began searching again about 6:50 a.m. today, Hadfield said.
