If, in the future, America sees another catastrophe perpetrated by terrorists and commentators in the media start saying “how could this happen?” think back to what I’m about to say.
America has a failed foreign policy. I don’t believe for a minute that Iran has stopped working on a nuclear weapons program. Iran supports Hamas and the Islamic State. Iran has given weapons and financial support to both of these groups.
Iran has exported terrorism to everywhere it can, and it continues to do so. Iran continues to call for the destruction of the United States and Israel.
When we are standing in the ashes of a catastrophic attack and looking at masses of casualties, there is going to be someone to blame. I will put the blame squarely on those who lead the country and are charged to protect and defend American lives and property. No excuses will be accepted that day.
President Harry Truman used to say, “The buck stops here.” So when America is knee-deep in ashes and there is death everywhere, I’m going to call for a resignation. I believe millions of Americans will stand with me that day.
In the interim, House Speaker John Boehner needs to understand that he is second in the presidential line of succession. Instead of criticizing and saying how he’d do things, he just might have to. And John, if you’re not up to the job, we’ll find someone else.
