Legacy’s DeMichael Walker rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries today against Desert Hills of St. George, but the Longhorns came up short against the defending Utah state champions, 29-14.
Walker had a 55-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and Legacy scored a special teams touchdown when A.J. Sotelo blocked a punt and Romello Pritchett returned it 30 yards for a score.
They led 14-13 late in the second quarter when Desert Hills forced Walker to fumble, returning the ball for a touchdown and taking the lead for good.
While Legacy didn’t win its season opener, coach John Isola says they have nothing to get discouraged about. They gave one of Utah’s best schools a big-time challenge.
“(The) kids fought hard. They really fought hard,” Isola said.
