Police say woman arrested over bomb threat at McCarran was drunk

A woman who police say was intoxicated and barred from boarding a flight at McCarran International Airport was arrested on charges of making a false bomb threat.

Tamara Reid was arrested Aug. 29 after allegedly indicating that she may have had a bomb in her bag.

According to a Metro Police arrest report, Reid attempted to board a flight from Las Vegas to Portland, Ore., at about 7:40 p.m. but was stopped by an Alaska Airlines supervisor. The report alleges that Reid was intoxicated and arrived at the E14 gate of Terminal 3 six minutes prior to takeoff.

When she was denied access to the plane, police say, she argued with the supervisor and called the Alaska Airlines reservation line.

According to the attendant, Reid said she wanted to notify the Federal Aviation Administration of the incident and asked, "How do you know if I don't have a bomb in my bag?"

The attendant notified Alaska Airlines in Las Vegas. Metro Police said they notified the FBI and the Southern Nevada Counter-Terrorism Center's watch desk.

The plane was stopped at a holding pad in Portland, where the ground crew looked for checked bags or luggage belonging to Reid. Police say Reid admitted to not having any checked bags but denied making a threat.

Metro Police took Reid, who was traveling with a 5-year-old child, into custody. The child was released to grandparents.

According to the Clark County District Attorney's Office, Reid has not yet been formally charged.
