All four bills needed to finalize Tesla Motor’s $1.3 billion incentive package have been released and are now being considered by the Legislature. Each bill will need approval from both houses before heading to Gov. Brian Sandoval for a signature.
Here's an annotated guide to each bill.
Senate Bill 1 annotation.
Senate Bill 1 was released late Wednesday and covers the core of the incentive package, including the tax abatements and tax credits. The Senate took up debate on the bill this morning about 9:30 a.m.
Assembly Bill 1 annotation.
Assembly Bill 1 would provide cheaper electricity rates to Tesla. The bill passed the Assembly this morning 39-0.
Assembly Bill 2 annotation.
Assembly Bill 2 would allow Tesla to sell its cars directly to consumers, bypassing dealers.
Assembly Bill 3 annotation.
Assembly Bill 3 would cut a tax credit for insurance companies and redirect the credits to Tesla. The bill passed the Assembly this morning 39-0.
