High School Football:

Arbor View contains Canyon Springs, 44-14

2014 High School Football

Las Vegas Sun

Arbor View High School football players Mitchell Durkee, Malik Noshi and Herman Gray on Monday, July 21, 2014.

Herman Gray and Noah Noce each scored a receiving and rushing touchdown for the Arbor View High football team in a 44-14 win against visiting Canyon Springs.

Gray carried the ball 12 times for 113 yards and a touchdown, and Bryce Poster passed for a pair of touchdowns. Sophomore kicker Carter Andrade added a 43-yard field goal.

The game featured two teams in the Sun’s top 10, but Arbor View quickly turned it into a lopsided affair. They led 21-0 after the first quarter and contained Canyon Springs’ offensive weapons from making an impact.

“We told our kids to not let them get going,” Arbor View coach Dan Barnson said. “We knew they were fast. We knew they have athletes. We wanted to keep those 4.4 (40-yard dash time) kids before they could get going.”

Arbor View improved to 2-0 and plays Basic next week. Canyon Springs falls to 1-1 and plays Foothill next week.
