A 16-year-old Mojave High School student was arrested Thursday afternoon in the shooting death of a woman in North Las Vegas, authorities said.

The boy, whose name was not released, was arrested at school and booked into a juvenile detention facility, North Las Vegas Police Officer Chrissie Coon said.

Police believe the victim, Andrea Lafon, 20, was in a car with friends Sept. 5 and drove to the 2600 block of Small Mountain Avenue to sell marijuana, Coon said.

Lafon was attempting to sell to a person in a group when she got into an argument with the suspect and was shot once in the face, Coon said.

Lafon was transported to University Medical Center and died the following day.
