Man arrested after standoff at northwest valley home

Armed standoff

A man was arrested Saturday morning after a six-hour standoff with SWAT and Metro Police.

Police received a call around 1 a.m. about a domestic dispute at a home in the 8300 block of Valleybreeze Avenue in the northwest valley. A man reportedly pointed a gun at two females inside a residence, Metro said.

The females were able to exit the home, Metro Lt. James Mizusaki said, but the man remained inside and refused to come out. Metro then treated it as a barricade situation, and the SWAT team was called in.

Around 7 a.m., after six hours of negotiating, SWAT members entered the home and the man surrendered, Mizusaki said.
