Updated Monday, Sept. 15, 2014 | 2:19 p.m.

A man was killed early today in a parking lot after he pointed a gun at a vehicle during an argument and one of the passengers shot him, Metro Police reported.

The shooter was interviewed by detectives, and the case will be submitted to the Clark County District Attorney’s Office for consideration of charges, police said. No names were released.

The incident happened about 3 a.m. in the parking lot of a strip mall in the 4400 block of South Paradise Road, across the street from the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. Patrol officers were in the area when a person reported hearing a gunshot. Officers found the victim on the ground near a vehicle in the parking lot, police said.

A preliminary investigation found the victim was with his girlfriend in a vehicle when an argument ensued between him and the occupants of a nearby vehicle, police said.

The victim reportedly got out of his vehicle, pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the occupants of the other vehicle, police said. A passenger in the vehicle pulled out a gun and fired one round, striking the victim, police said.

The victim’s name will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office. The death was the 93rd homicide investigated by the Metro this year.
