BLOOMING GROVE, Pa. — Authorities are searching for a heavily armed survivalist suspected in an ambush that killed one Pennsylvania State Police trooper and wounded another in a heavily forested region of northeastern Pennsylvania.
State police have identified the suspect as 31-year-old Eric Frein of Canadensis. They are warning the public he is dangerous, saying he's talked about committing mass murder.
State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan said Frein has a long-standing vendetta against law enforcement.
Frein was charged Tuesday with first-degree murder, homicide of a law enforcement officer and other offenses in the shooting death of 38-year-old Cpl. Bryon Dickson. A second trooper, Alex Douglass, was critically wounded in Friday night's attack at the Blooming Grove barracks.
