Fatal Crash

A man was killed and four others were in unknown condition this morning after a crash at Summerlin Parkway and the 215 Beltway.

A white Ford F-350 pulling a landscape trailer was traveling north on the 215 Beltway off-ramp about 10 a.m. when it reached the intersection with Summerlin Parkway, Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Chelsea Webster said.

The truck collided at the intersection with another white F-350, also pulling a landscape trailer, that was headed west on Summerlin Parkway, she said.

The truck on Summerlin Parkway was pushed across the intersection and hit a traffic-signal pole, Webster said. It continued down a rocky embankment and caught fire, she said.

The male driver of that truck was taken to University Medical Center and died, Webster said.

Two of four other people in the truck also were taken to the hospital, Webster said.

Both people in the other truck also were taken to the hospital, she said.

The patrol is investigating the incident.

Webster said it appears one of the trucks ran a red light, but it is unclear which one.
