“I don’t know what to name her!” a wide-eyed Brenda Becerra exclaimed this morning as she examined her new iPhone 6 Plus.

Becerra, 21, was one of about 100 people who lined up today in front of the Boca Park AT&T store near Summerlin for the release of the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The new additions to the Apple family have larger screens, faster performance and better cameras.

The crowds began camping out at the AT&T store last night at 7 p.m., a full thirteen hours before the 8 a.m. opening. The most eager customers slept in their cars overnight and set up coolers and folding chairs on the sidewalk outside the store.

When Matthew Spivey arrived at the store at 6:50 this morning he heard a woman arguing with would-be customers about saving a spot for her husband.

“It sounded like someone just needed a hug,” Spivey said.

Inside the store, 20 AT&T representatives were on site demo-ing the new phones and keeping waiting customers happy with cookies and sodas.

Eddie Yan arrived at 9 p.m. last night and slept in his car with his wife and teenage daughter to get 6-Pluses. By 8:15 this morning that model had sold out at the Boca Park location.

“It’s all about the 6 Plus, no one wants the 6,” Yan said.

Within 24 hours of opening pre-sales Monday, Apple sold more than four million new phones, with demand particularly strong for the pluses.

Mick Cho, area manager of multiple Las Vegas valley AT&T stores, said he expects the Boca Park store to be busy all day long.

“Customers are loving the larger screen, and new camera,” he said.

The Boca Park store will be open till 8 p.m. tonight. The phones start at $199 with a two-year service contact.
