Police ID suspect in standoff who is linked to fatal shooting

Metro Police have identified the man arrested after Thursday's SWAT standoff who is suspected in a beating and shooting that occurred hours earlier.

According to a Metro news release, 30-year-old Jabron Carr is suspected of beating a male with a handgun in the 4600 block of Vegas Drive, near Decatur Boulevard. He was arrested on charges of battery with the use of a deadly weapon.

Police said in the release that Carr is also a suspect in the shooting death of a man who allegedly witnessed the beating, though Carr was not arrested on connected charges.

According to the release, Carr and two other suspects were reportedly engaged in an altercation with a man when Carr began to strike him in the head and face with a gun.

A neighbor with an assault rifle allegedly confronted the three suspects, who were attempting to flee the scene, the release said.

The neighbor, later identified by the Clark County Coroner's Office as 25-year-old Arnoldo Hermosillo, allegedly shot one of the suspects in the ankle before the suspect returned fire with a handgun, according to the release.

Police said in the release that they believe Carr fired the handgun.

The other two male suspects ran from the complex, according to the release.

The release states Carr barricaded himself within a residence in the 1700 block of Yellow Rose Street following the incident.

He peacefully surrendering to police about four hours later, according to the report.
