Mom accused of throwing kids out window found fit for trial

A defense lawyer says he'll fight a finding that a Las Vegas woman is fit for trial on charges alleging she threw her 7-month-old son and 1½-year-old daughter out a second-story window before jumping out herself.

Attorney Benson Lee sought time Friday to review two doctors' reports that 34-year-old Luz Robledo Ibarra is competent to face attempted murder and felony child abuse charges that, combined, could get her up to 80 years in state prison.

Clark County District Judge Linda Marie Bell set another hearing Oct. 3.

Ibarra family members wept in court during the brief court appearance. They didn't comment afterward.

The children were hospitalized with critical injuries, and Ibarra was treated for a broken pelvis after the early June 12 incident at a northeast Las Vegas home.
