A person was found dead this morning in an apartment fire in Henderson, city officials said.
Firefighters responded about 8:40 a.m. to Sunset Hills Apartments near Eastern Avenue and Windmill Parkway after reports of smoke coming from a two-story building.
The fire was in the space between the first and second stories, Henderson spokeswoman Kathleen Richards said.
Firefighters found one person dead in a second-story unit, she said. The person’s name has not been released.
A neighbor, Teri English, said the victim was a man who was disabled from a back injury.
Nobody else was injured.
Firefighters were investigating what caused the fire, Richards said.
