Sandoval makes appointments to fill two vacant judgeships

CARSON CITY — Gov. Brian Sandoval has named a private attorney from Boulder City and an assistant U.S. attorney to the two vacant judgeships in Clark County.

The governor selected Joseph “Joe” Hardy Jr. and Louis E. Johnson to fill the posts of District Judges Abbi Silver and Jerome “Jerry” Tao, who were elevated to the newly created state Court of Appeals.

Hardy, 42, was admitted to practice law in 2000 and has served on the board of the Nevada Taxicab Authority. He is the son of state Sen. Joseph Hardy of Boulder City.

Johnson, 54, is chief of the criminal division in the U.S. Attorney’s Office. He was admitted to practice law in Nevada in 1994.
