The father who left a North Las Vegas home where a 3-year-old girl was found dead is in custody.

Sgt. Chrissie Coon said 39-year-old Jondrew Megil Lachaux, accompanied by his lawyer, surrendered to North Las Vegas Police on Monday. Lachaux and his partner, Kellie Cherie Phillips, were sought for questioning after a badly malnourished 4-month-old girl was hospitalized last Wednesday and her 17-year-old mother was arrested.

The teen told police that her mother, Phillips, and Lachaux left her at the home on Wood Thrush Place, about 10 miles northwest of downtown Las Vegas, several weeks ago with the two younger children.

Lachaux was charged with three counts of child abuse with substantial bodily harm or death in connection with the three children — ages 17, 3, and 4 months — abandoned in their home and one count of concealing evidence in connection with the death investigation of his 3-year-old daughter while in the custody of her 17-year-old half sister, Coon said.

Phillips and her remaining five children, ages 1 to 9, remain missing. Police have received tips from California and the Las Vegas areas, none of which have led to the family's location.

The infant remains at Sunrise Hospital, while her teenage mother remains in custody at the Clark County Juvenile Detention Center.

Anyone with information is urged to contact North Las Vegas Police at 702-633-9111, or to remain anonymous call Crimestoppers at 702-385-5555.
