Report of person with gun briefly closes Henderson polling site

Updated Tuesday, April 7, 2015 | 5:45 p.m.

Henderson Police investigated a report of a person with a gun at Green Valley Library this afternoon during municipal primary voting but determined there was no threat, a spokeswoman said.

Officers were called about 3:30 p.m. to the library, located at 2797 N. Green Valley Parkway, near Sunset Road, Henderson Police spokeswoman Michelle French said.

Police received a report of a person with a gun and found a person matching the suspect description in the area, she said.

The male, whose age was not available, consented to a pat down, and no weapons were found, she said.

It is unclear if the person was located at the library or nearby.

The polling place closed for about 15 to 30 minutes, Clark County spokesman Dan Kulin said.

He called the incident a "brief interruption" and said polling staff secured the equipment and left the building during the incident.

No one was arrested, and officers cleared the scene about 4 p.m., treating the incident as a false report, French said.

The polling place will remain open until 7 p.m., Kulin said.
