NLV shooting leaves 1 man dead, another in critical condition

One man is dead and another is in critical condition after a Saturday afternoon shooting in North Las Vegas, according to police.

Around 3:07 p.m., North Las Vegas Police were dispatched to the 800 block of East Cartier Avenue in response to a shooting. Officers located a 36-year-old man lying on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound. He later was pronounced dead on scene.

A few minutes later, officers received another call of a second gunshot victim nearby in the 1000 block of Stone River Drive. The 42-year-old male victim was transported to University Medical Center Trauma in critical condition.

The two victims knew each other, a preliminary investigation indicated.

The suspect in the two shootings may have been in a vehicle, according to witness, but police said the shootings do not appear to be random.

Detectives are still investigating what led to the shooting, according to police.

No suspect is in custody at the time.
