A man facing charges in connection with a sexual assault investigation was arrested following a standoff today in a southwest valley neighborhood, Metro Police said.

Agustin Baranda, 38, is being transported to a hospital after being bitten by a police dog, Metro Police said.

Police were doing a follow-up investigation in the 5100 block of Pipestone Pass, near West Reno Avenue and South Fort Apache Road, when Baranda barricaded himself in a house, Metro Police said.

SWAT officers were called to the scene about 3:15 p.m. and took Baranda into custody about 8 p.m., police said.

Surrounding homes were evacuated as a precaution, police said.

Police did not release further details on the sexual assault case.
