Nevada average gas price down a dime from March, now $2.78

RENO — Gas prices in Nevada have dropped about a dime over the past month to $2.78 per gallon, but they vary widely across the state.

AAA Nevada said in its monthly report Tuesday the lowest prices are in Carson City, averaging $2.66 per gallon. That's a full quarter cheaper than Reno's $2.91. Those prices are 17 cents cheaper than both cities reported in March.

The April survey says Las Vegas is averaging $2.76 — down 14 cents from March. North Las Vegas is at $2.75, Henderson $2.77 and Sparks $2.90. The only town to report a monthly increase was Elko — a 24-cent jump to $2.71.

Gas in Nevada is 39 cents more expensive than the national average of $2.39. The highest prices nationally are in California ($3.10) and Hawaii ($3.09).
