letter to the editor:

It’s about money, not the middle class

I read with much interest the article about the solar industry and NV Energy in the Sun (“Solar industry squares off with Buffett and NV Energy,” April 11). It would seem that environmentalists are only for big solar projects and not for the little solar projects residents put on our roofs. This is another example of the progressives’ lack of honesty and hatred of the working poor and middle class.

Why does Warren Buffett not put a rooftop system on every house in America, charge a small fee every month and skip to the bank with the profits? Because even though he would be able to cut his current costs to next to nothing, and there would be no need to build or protect a huge infrastructure anymore, he would lose his power to reign over the little people. You would think the “greens” would be out in force to bring about such changes, but alas, it always comes down to devaluing the taxpayers to support nontaxpayers.

There are just too many interests the progressives claim to champion that they forget which ones are being supported and by whom. Where did the idea of a cap on the number of private solar units come from anyway?

If it were up to me, every residence in the world would have a solar system so they could escape the clutches of the utility monopoly. Of course, I am a conservative who cares about my fellow man and especially my fellow citizens of the United States. I guess all the talk about helping the middle class is just that — talk. My father always said, “Talk is cheap. It takes money to buy whiskey.”

Maybe the solar issue will finally show people the truth: Liberals like Warren Buffett could care less about the people; they only care about the money they can make with their policies.
