Police say a fourth person has died after a speeding car veered into oncoming lanes and crashed head-on into another vehicle on a shortcut between two Las Vegas-area freeways.

All three people in a Toyota Camry died at the scene of the three-vehicle wreck about 5 p.m. Wednesday, North Las Vegas police officer Aaron Patty said.

A woman, 56, was driving. Her passengers were a 50-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman. All were from North Las Vegas.

Their names weren't immediately made public by the Clark County coroner's office.

Patty said a 28-year-old Las Vegas man driving a Nissan 350Z caused the crash. He died later at University Medical Center in Las Vegas.

The driver of a Ford F-150 pickup that was also involved in the wreck received minor injuries, Patty said.

Crash investigators say the Nissan driver was speeding in a 45-mph zone on Lamb Boulevard near Centennial Parkway when he lost control of his vehicle and slammed into the Toyota.

The four-lane road is a popular shortcut between Interstate 15 and the 215 Beltway northwest of Las Vegas.
