Wrong-way driver, one other killed in U.S. 95 accident

Two men were killed in a wrong-way accident on the U.S. 95 this afternoon.

A driver was going against traffic on southbound U.S. 95, north of the Snow Mountain exit, when he hit another car head-on around 4:15 p.m., according to Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Chelsea Stuenkel. Both drivers were killed.

The vehicle was reportedly driving recklessly and also hit two other cars, Stuenkel said.

Southbound U.S. 95 is closed near the scene of the accident, with no estimated time of reopening. Drivers are urged to avoid the area until the accident is cleared, but otherwise will have to take a "horseshoe" detour, as traffic is being diverted to the Mount Charleston exit and to route 157, Stuenkel said.
