A 4-year-old boy died in a northwest valley drowning Tuesday evening, Metro Police said.
Police responded about 7:30 p.m. to the 7600 block of Lethbridge Avenue, near Buffalo Drive and Racel Street just outside of Floyd Lamb State Park, Lt. Bruce Miyama said.
The boy was found submerged in a backyard swimming pool by a family member and was unconscious when medical personnel arrived on scene, Miyama said.
The boy was transported to Centennial Hills Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, he said.
Abuse and neglect detectives are on scene, which is standard operating procedure in child death investigations, he said.
