A man was arrested today after apparently killing his roommate in their southeast valley apartment, according to Metro Police.

Just before 2 a.m., police received a call from a man, later identified as Tobey Gibeson, 40, saying that his female roommate was dead in an apartment on the 5400 block of East Harmon Avenue, near Boulder Highway.

Officers went to the apartment and found a woman who died from apparent blunt force trauma, police said in a statement.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Gibeson had lived with the woman for a month. A few days prior, the roommates got into a verbal argument that turned physical. After the latest incident, Gibeson went to Metro headquarters on Martin L. King Boulevard and called 911.

Gibeson was arrested on one count of open murder and is being held at the Clark County Detention Center.
