A woman found dead in a west valley apartment fire Monday morning has been identified as 42-year-old Marrie Stewart, according to the Clark County Coroner's Office.
Stewart, a Las Vegas resident, was located by firefighters in an apartment at 10175 Spring Mountain Road, near South Hualapai Way, according to the Clark County Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to a burning building about 6:30 a.m. Monday, where flames and smoke could be seen coming from one unit, the department said.
Metro Police's homicide unit responded to the scene due to the circumstances of the death, but police have not declared Stewart's death a homicide, Officer Larry Hadfield said.
One person was treated for a cut at the scene, the fire department said. It is unclear if the person was a resident of the apartment.
