Rain could continue today, Saturday

Plus: wind

Showers sprinkled some rain over the east valley Thursday afternoon and there's still a chance for more for the rest of the Las Vegas Valley over the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

Meteorologists are predicting a 20 percent chance of rain today, but there's a greater possibility of rain Saturday, especially in the evening and into the night, National Weather Service meteorologist Chris Outler said.

About one-tenth of an inch of rain fell between about 1 and 2 p.m. Thursday in eastern parts of Henderson, Outler said.

The official recording station at McCarran International Airport didn't record any rainfall, he said.

The isolated storm that caused those showers moved on quickly, he said.

Winds are predicted to reach up to 25 miles per hour with gusts as high as 35 miles per hour Saturday, he said.

The high temperature of 78 degrees predicted for today drops to 75 degrees Saturday with a low tonight of 59 degrees, Outler said.

The cooler temperatures aren't expected to stick around for long.

Meteorologists are predicting a warming trend with high temperatures possibly into the 90s by the middle of next week, Outler said.
