Victim in fatal motorcycle crash was New Mexico man

The motorcyclist who was killed in a single-vehicle crash Friday night has been identified as 43-year-old Dickie Chavez by the Nevada Highway Patrol.

About 7:25 p.m., Chavez, who was from Socorro, N.M., was traveling east on his maroon and white 2002 Yamaha Classic on State Route 160, near Mountain Springs, when his motorcycle drifted through the south paved shoulder as he pressed the brakes, NHP said.

Chavez was ejected from the motorcycle as it overturned, NHP said.

The motorcycle landed on its right side, facing east in the south gravel shoulder of State Route 160, NHP said.

Chavez was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
