Coroner IDs motorcyclist killed in crash in North Las Vegas

A motorcyclist killed what police described as a hit-and-run crash Saturday in North Las Vegas has been identified by the Clark County Coroner’s Office as Derrick Roland Singleton Jr.

Singleton, 26, of North Las Vegas, died of multiple blunt-force trauma, according to the Coroner’s Office.

The accident was reported about 4:30 p.m. at West Washburn Road and Camino Al Norte, North Las Vegas Police said.

It appears the driver of a Chevrolet Equinox northbound on Camino Al Norte tried to turn west onto Washburn but didn’t yield to oncoming traffic, police said.

Singleton hit the SUV and was transported to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Witnesses told police the SUV left the scene, driving to a nearby neighborhood, police said.

Troy Marez, 50, of North Las Vegas, was arrested without incident and booked at the Las Vegas City Jail on one count of felony DUI involving death, one count of failing to yield and one count of duty to stop at the scene of an accident, police said.

Marez was not injured, police said.
