Police cracking down on prostitution before big fight

Metro Police will be increasing patrols this week as they expect a rise in prostitution because of fans descending on the city for the weekend's big fight.

Police will be on the lookout for people who engage in illegal prostitution as crowds flock to the Strip for the Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao fight, KSNV-TV reports.

Former Las Vegas escort Annie Lobert said prostitution will likely increase 10 times over the norm this week because of fight night.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority reported last week that virtually all 150,000 hotel rooms in the city were sold for fight weekend.

Prostitution is illegal in Clark County. The penalties can be severe for anyone caught, including the possibility of jail time.
