CARSON CITY — Taxable sales in Nevada jumped 9.1 percent in February, with strong performances in car and electronics sales, the Nevada Department of Taxation reported Tuesday. Total sales reached $3.8 billion.
Sales of motor vehicles and parts increased by 11.3 percent, and electronics and appliance sales were up 21.7 percent, the agency said.
Sales in Clark County were $2.8 billion, up 8.7 percent. Sales of autos rose 12.3 percent, building materials were up 15 percent and furniture increased by 9.7 percent. Sales at bars and restaurants inched up 3.6 percent.
The state collected $76.3 million as its share of the sales tax, a 7.3 percent gain compared to February 2014. So far this fiscal year, tax collections are $4.8 million below the state’s budget estimate.
