A 24-year-old father was arrested Sunday night after North Las Vegas Police say they found the body of his 2-month-old daughter in a dumpster.

Mason Henderson of North Las Vegas was arrested on counts of first-degree murder and child endangerment in the infant’s death, according to North Las Vegas Police. He also is accused of neglecting his 1-year-old daughter, police said.

He was being held at the Las Vegas City Jail.

The 23-year-old mother of the infant reported about 12:30 a.m. Sunday that she returned home to find the couple’s 1-year-old alone, police said. The home is in the 3800 block of Craig Crossing Drive, near West Craig Road and Allen Lane.

The woman reported Henderson and the infant missing to officers who were in the neighborhood, police said.

Another police agency notified North Las Vegas Police about 6:30 p.m. that it found and detained Henderson, police said.

The investigation led police to the infant’s body about 9 p.m. in a dumpster in the 4000 block of Allen Lane, near West Alexander Road, police said. The infant was identified by the Clark County Coroner's Office as Jessica Henderson.
