SPARKS — The Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles hopes to clear up long lines and crowded offices with nearly 100 new employees.
The Daily Sparks Tribune reports that 93 employees are scheduled to start issuing licenses and vehicle registrations in September. Reno will have 23 of the new hires.
Agency figures show that the average wait time at the DMV last year was 72 minutes. This year, the agency says the number has creeped up to two hours.
A spokesman for the DMV says staff shortages have been a constant challenge.
The agency says population growth has also contributed to the increased wait times.
