Police seeking suspect in fatal alley shooting

Metro Police are searching for a man they say fatally shot a person and injured another in an alley in the southwest valley Sunday night.

Carlos Aviles, 55, is wanted for murder with a deadly weapon and attempted murder with a deadly weapon in the case, according to police.

Officers were called to the 4600 block of West Twain Avenue, near South Decatur Boulevard, about 10:20 p.m. Sunday, and two people were found with gunshot wounds, police said.

One of the victims, 31-year-old Las Vegas resident Joel Sanchez, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police and the Clark County Coroner's Office.

The other wounded person was taken to University Medical Center with nonlife-threatening injuries, police said.

Investigators believe Aviles may be driving a teal or blue 1994 Ford F150, police said.
