Motorcyclist critically injured in crash with SUV

Two people were injured, one critically, in a crash between a motorcycle and an SUV this morning on State Route 160 near Mountain Springs Summit, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

The wreck closed the road in both directions, but it was reopened by 1:30 p.m., officials said.

The accident was reported about 9:45 a.m. on State Route 160, also known as Blue Diamond Road, Highway Patrol Trooper Loy Hixson said.

The man driving the motorcycle was taken by helicopter to University Medical Center with critical injuries, he said. A woman on the motorcycle was taken to UMC in serious condition, he said.

No one in the Ford SUV was injured, Hixson said.

The accident remains under investigation.
