Fire displaces 3, briefly closes Koval Lane

Firefighters closed Koval while fighting the fire, but the street has since been reopened

A fire early today at a duplex near the Las Vegas Strip displaced three people and prompted firefighters to close Koval Lane near Tropicana Avenue.

Clark County firefighters were called at 4:43 a.m. to the blaze, which occurred at 4846 Koval Lane. Upon arrival, they found flames coming from one of the two units.

A passerby was transported to a local hospital after suffering a cut while breaking a window in an attempt to provide assistance. No other injuries were reported.

Firefighters have not identified any of the individuals involved, including the male who was injured and the two men and one woman who were displaced.

Firefighters closed Koval while fighting the fire, but the street has since been reopened.

The fire, which firefighters brought under control in 10 minutes, caused an estimated $50,000 damage. Its cause is under investigation.
