Retired judge Robison of Gardnerville dies

Retired District Judge Norman Robison of Gardnerville died Sunday in the Carson Tahoe Hospital after a short illness. He was 78.

He was appointed district judge in Douglas County in February 1982 by Gov. Robert List. He won election twice and retired in 1994 after becoming a senior judge. During his time in office, he helped developed the China Springs Youth Camps for delinquents.

His interest in helping youth carried over to the annual fishing derby. He and his family raised trout at their ranch, and then planted them in a creek for the children to catch.

Before becoming a district judge, he worked for the Nevada Highway Patrol and as a deputy in the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office. He also served in the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jeanette, son Craig Robison and daughter Rhonda Kudrna.
