Cure 4 The Kids Foundation given $50,000 donation

Cure 4 The Kids Foundation, which provides funding and access to medical treatment for children facing life-threatening diseases, received a $50,000 donation Wednesday.

The local nonprofit was one of 22 recipients of the 2015 Hyundai Hope On Wheels Impact Award and monetary donation. The Hemophilia Treatment Center and the Children's Specialty Center in Las Vegas are both programs of the foundation.

"This generous gift on behalf of Hyundai Hope On Wheels will help advance our mission," Annette Logan, president and CEO of Cure 4 The Kids Foundation, said in a statement. "This philanthropic gesture is deeply appreciated by our organization, as well as our families, who will benefit from this donation for years to come."

The donation was presented to Dr. Alexandra Walsh during a ceremony Wednesday morning in Las Vegas. Local children battling cancer participated in the event, officials said.

Hope On Wheels will award more than $15 million to children's hospitals across the nation this year, bringing the total grant funding to pediatric cancer research to $100 million since the program began in 1998.
