A 24-year-old accused gang member is facing the rest of his life in prison for the fatal shooting of an off-duty Metro Police officer during a botched midnight robbery in the garage of the officer's North Las Vegas home in November 2009.

A judge on Wednesday sentenced Prentice Marshall to prison without parole for his guilty plea in June in the death of the 30-year-old officer, Trevor Nettleton.

Marshall's attorney, Christopher Oram, says he'll appeal whether a statement Marshall, then 18, gave to police following his arrest was voluntary.

Co-defendants Quadrae Scott and Adrian Pena pleaded guilty in 2012 to lesser charges and sentenced to prison.

Brothers Michael Ferguson and Emmitt Ferguson pleaded guilty to being accessories in the case.

One co-defendant, Saul Williams Jr., is awaiting trial.
