Four hospitalized, traffic snarled after 4-vehicle wreck on U.S. 95

Updated Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015 | 2:04 p.m.

Four people were taken to the hospital after a four-vehicle crash late this morning on U.S. 95 that was slowing southbound traffic, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

The crash, reported about 11:45 a.m. between Valley View Boulevard and Rancho Drive, left one woman trapped in a four-door Nissan, Trooper Loy Hixson said.

Firefighters extricated her from the vehicle, and she was taken to University Medical Center in serious condition, Hixson said.

Another woman in the vehicle and a man driving a white pickup truck also were taken to UMC, both with minor injuries, he said.

Another woman was taken to MountainView Hospital as a precaution, Hixson said. It was not clear which vehicle she was in.

The crash earlier left only one lane of southbound U.S. 95 open in the area, causing traffic to back up to Rainbow Boulevard, Hixson said.

By 2 p.m., the right two lanes were open, according to the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada.

The cause of the wreck remains under investigation. The Highway Patrol anticipates the road should be fully open by about 1:30 p.m.
